A 23-year-old youth, who was working as a domestic assistant in the house of a priest, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at Phase 3B1 here. The victim has been identified as Jagga, who was staying in the house of the priest.
The police recovered a piece of paper from the victim’s room on which he wrote “Baba jee sab da bhala karry (May almighty bless all)”.
According to the police, the matter came to light when his acquaintances went to his room to give him lunch today and found him hanging around 2 pm. One of his acquaintances said he did not come out of his room since Friday.
According to the police, the room was found bolted from inside and there was no response. Apart from the piece of paper, the police also found some medicines from the room.
“The medicines indicated that Jagga was in depression,” said Sub-Inspector Rajiv Kumar, Station House Officer of the Mataur Police Station, here.
Rickshaw-puller ends life
In another incident, Budhram, a 45-year-old rickshaw-puller, ended his life by allegedly electrocuting himself at his residence in Amb Sahib Colony during wee hours today.
The police said the incident came to light around 9 am when the victim’s son, Amit, found the body of his father lying near the high-tension power line passing over near his house.
The police said Budhram was alcoholic and used to earn his livelihood by pulling rickshaw. The police have initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC at the Phase 11 police station here.
