A youth was found dead in Mehsampura Khurd village, falling under Mehta Police station, here on Friday. The police have registered a case against two persons in this connection.

Those booked have been identified as Happy and his brother Germanjit Singh of the same village. No arrest has been made till now.

Dayal Singh, father of the deceased, stated to the police that his son Baldev Singh (38) went to his tube well room in his fields on Thursday night but did not return. In the morning, The family found the body lying in a well nearby. He suspected that the two might have killed Baldev as they had a land dispute with him.

Amandeep Singh, investigating officer, said, “The police have registered a murder case against the two on the statement of Dayal Singh. Further investigation is under way.” The body was handed over to the family after a postmortem examination. The police are waiting for the autopsy report for initiating further probe. — TNS
