Youth duped of Rs 31,500

CHANDIGARH: Two fraudsters allegedly duped an 18-year-old youth of Rs 31,500 after fooling him on the pretext of exchanging his money with Rs 500 currency notes at Sector 17 today.

Two fraudsters allegedly duped an 18-year-old youth of Rs 31,500 after fooling him on the pretext of exchanging his money with Rs 500 currency notes at Sector 17 today. 

According to the police, the victim, Srikanth, a resident of Sector 18, went to the Bank of India in Sector 17 to deposit Rs 31,500. 

In the meantime, two youths, aged around 20, offered the victim to exchange his notes with Rs 500 notes. The victim handed over his money to the fraudsters, who then handed over a bundle wrapped in a cloth to him. 

On checking, the victim found that the miscreants had handed him paper. The suspects had escaped from there by the time the victim realised that he had been cheated. 

The police were informed about the incident, who visited the spot and initiated an investigation into the matter.
