Almost a year after, the Division No. 3 police have booked a woman for abetting the suicide of a boy, Gagandeep Singh. The deceased had left behind a suicide note in which he mentioned the woman’s name.

On the basis of the suicide note, the police have registered an abetment-of-suicide case against Aashma. She is yet to be arrested.

The deceased’s father, Avtar Singh, a resident of Ganesh Nagar, Janakpuri, alleged that his son, Gagandeep, was a flat machine operator at some factory. On March 20, 2018, his son did not go to the factory as their relatives had come to meet them. In the evening when the relatives were about to leave, he was shocked to see his son hanging from the grills of the stairs.

He was rushed to the nearby hospital where the doctors declared him brought in dead. “We found a suicide note on the body and handed it over to the police. But the police, instead of taking action against Aashma, whose name is mentioned in the suicide note, initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC,” alleged Avtar. After several complaints to the police, he filed one to the ACP Central who recommended an FIR against Aashma. Even the DA Legal, in his view, stated that offence of abetment of suicide is made out against the woman.
