New Delhi, July 17

Yahoo! Messenger today became history as the web service provider put it to rest after a long run of around 20 years. The messenger server will remain active for another six months so that users can download their chat history.

The company also stated that Yahoo IDs will remain the same for other services like Mail, fantasy sports, etc. Though parent company Verizon didn’t provide its users any explanation, rising competition seems to be the reason behind the step. — TNS
