The “nagar kirtan” that started from Nankana Sahib in Pakistan as part of the 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak reached the district on Tuesday.
Jathedar Baldev Singh Kaimpur, former senior vice-president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), and Bibi Manjeet Kaur Gadhaula, SGPC member, welcomed the “nagar kirtan” that reached Sadhaura in the morning.
Jathedar Baldev Singh said the arrival of the “nagar kirtan” from the birthplace of Guru Nanak to India was a matter of great pride for the countrymen.
The “nagar kirtan” passed through Bilaspur, Jagadhri, Chhachhrauli and Pratap Nagar, among other places.
“The nagar kirtan will reach Paonta Sahib in Himachal Pradesh and Dehradun in Uttarakhand in the night. After passing through other states, the nagar kirtan will again reach Haryana, that time from Bahadurgarh, in October,” Jathedar Baldev Singh said.
