Workshop on challenges in teaching social sciences

The teaching learning centre at the Central University of Punjab(CUP) successfully organised MHRD sponsored one-week interdisciplinary national workshop on ‘Pedagogical Challenges in Teaching Social Sciences’ from December 2 to 6.

The workshop was conducted under MHRD’s Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya national mission on teachers and teaching and its objective was to enhance the teaching-learning potential of social science faculty. Vice-Chancellor (VC) professor RK Kohli presided over the opening and closing session of the workshop.

Professor P Ramarao, dean, academic affairs, encouraged participants to develop innovative ways for making social science teaching more effective. The keynote speaker of the inaugural ceremony was professor Paramjit Singh Judge, president, Indian Sociological Society. Around 28 faculty members from 10 different states participated in the workshop.

A total of 18 sessions were conducted where eminent personalities in social science discipline from India and abroad came as a resource person to share their views on different topics.

Vinod Arya, TLC co-ordinator, shared the programme report of the 14th TLC workshop. Speaking on the occasion, professor VK Garg, director TLC, stated that this workshop had met its objectives and provided innovative strategies and way forward to deal with pedagogical challenges in teaching social science research. The VC congratulated the organising team and awarded certificates to the participants.
