Jalandhar, July 10
The SAD (Taksali) today said its members would not share the stage either with the SAD or the Congress during the 550th Gurpurb of Guru Nanak Dev.
Party chief Ranjit Singh Brahmpura and senior leader Sewa Singh Sekhwan said they did not want to share a common platform with a party that was embroiled in sacrilege or a party involved in 1984 riots. “We will stay away and organise Gurpurb celebrations separately,” they said.
The leaders said while the SAD had forgotten the Anandpur Sahib resolution of 1973 regarding seeking autonomy for Punjab, which would remain the prime agenda of their party. The members said they would soon meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah and demand the conduct of SGPC elections. — TNS
