Chandigarh, January 16

A group of women, which runs a bhajan mandli, distributed over 100 blankets among poor patients at the PGI here.

The blankets were purchased from funds collected through bhajans.

Maa Bhagvati Kirtan Mandli, Panchkula, gave away blankets to the poor patients and also to their attendants. Besides, 10 blankets were given at Shri Hari Mandir in Sector 12. The group visits households and performs kirtan. Whatever money they earn through kirtan, they use it to buy blankets and then distribute the same among the patients in winter.

“We distribute blankets among patients every year. It gives us satisfaction. We get together and visit different houses. People have also given us good response. We later purchase blankets to distribute these among the poor patients,” said Bimla Devi, president of the women group.
