Chandigarh, May 1

The police today produced the 38-year-old woman, who posed as an advocate, in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM).

The CJM sent the woman, identified as Kamini Sharma, a resident of Sector 44, to judicial custody and asked the police to produce her in the court on May 15. Kamini was arrested on Tuesday.

A case under Sections 419 (punishment for cheating by impersonation) and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the IPC was registered at the Sector 3 police station against her on the complaint of Vikas Malik, vice-president, Bar Association, Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh.

Malik alleged that Kamini misrepresented herself as an advocate without having any law degree, authority and enrolment as an advocate with the Bar Council at the High Court.

Meanwhile, her counsel filed an application for her bail in the court, which would come up for hearing tomorrow.
