Woman booked on charge of bigamy

The Kharar City police booked a woman, Jasvir Kaur, for bigamy. The case has been registered as per orders passed by the Subdivisional Judicial Magistrate on October 15, 2018. 

Her husband Avtar Singh alleged that they had got married on March 3, 2013, but no child was born out of their wedlock. He said on July 25, 2013, he met with in an accident, becoming physically dependent on his wife. During the period, another man, Jatidner Singh, started visiting them. He alleged that during this period, they developed an illicit relationship. 

He alleged that on January 29, 2015, Jasvir Kaur, without informing him, left him and married Jatinder at  Gurdwara Gur Niwas Sahib at Karor Kalan village. She allegedly took away some gold ornaments.Thereafter, they approached the Punjab Human Rights Commission, allegedly seeking protection of life and liberty for a favourable order by misleading the commission. When Avtar came to know about her marriage with Jatinder, he approached the SHO, City police, but nothing was done. 

The court called the report lodged with the police. 

The court ordered that a case under Section 397 and 494 be registered against Jasvir Kaur and under Section 498 of the IPC against Jatinder Singh.
