Mandi, January 3

Kullvi nati by rural women, who were dressed in traditional attire, drew a huge crowd on the second day of the national winter carnival in Manali on Thursday.

A couple from Maharashtra, Rajesh Deshpandey and his Sumita Pandey, said “It was an amazing show. Our trip to the hill state will be a memorable one. We are amazed at seeing a perfect blend of traditional and modern cultural activities during the carnival.”

Sheela Devi, a rural woman, said “We are losing our tradition and culture to modernisation. Such events will help revive our rich traditional culture. At the same time, it gives an opportunity to village women to participate in cultural activities.”

A dance completion on The Mall was another attraction of the day. The theme was “Say no to drugs”. Kullu district is known for cannabis production. The district administration is making all efforts to make people aware about the harmful effects of drug abuse.
