After a gap of almost 27 years, Disney released a new ‘special look’ trailer for the live-action remake of its much-loved film Aladdin at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards Show.
The film offered a glimpse what everyone was waiting for which is Will Smith in the popular blue genie avatar. A childhood favourite, Disney’s Aladdin is all set to release their new film this May. Aladdin, which released in 1992, became a classic.
The film will see Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Jasmine and Will Smith as the Genie in the sprawling city of Agrabah. Smith takes on Robin Williams’ former role as the Genie to bring a “hip hop flavour” to the part. Disney unveiled first-look images from Aladdin last December and they did look promising. In the new trailer, the movie is set against the backdrop of a Middle Eastern city amid the desert. Mena Massoud as Aladdin can be seen walking up to the Cave of Wonders, whereas a shot of Jasmine can be seen as she walks down the palace’s steps. Will Smith aka Genie appears in the last 20 seconds of the trailer and his genie avatar will definitely take you by surprise.
