Three youngsters’ desire to get rich quickly is the story of Chan Tara. This Punjabi flick to release this Friday marks Jashan Agnihotri’s debut in Pollywood.

“Can you beat it, I get to play a double role in my debut film,” says the ecstatic girl, in Chandigarh, on Tuesday for the promotions of the film. Along with her is the seasoned actor-singer Arun Bakshi, who has some 150 films and more than 300 songs to his credit.

And boy, when he speaks he could really hold the audience. Bol Mitti Deya Baweya is what he croons and the noisy, crowded hall goes silent. “My idea is to compete with the youngsters of today and give people a reason to smile and laugh through my work,” he says.

In Chan Tara, Arun plays Dhani Ram USA, father of Yuvraj (played by Nav Bajwa). “The high of the film is 12.5 minute climax that was shot in one take. I credit the film’s director Vineet Atwal for conceiving such a scene and trusting me with it.”

Jashan, who plays Chan, a modern girl and Tara a village belle, shares that it was tough to keep the two characters distinct, “It’s not just about the looks and language but as much as mannerism that was hard to get and be consistent with it.”

In a competitive world with cut-throat competition, Arun shares his tip which has helped him stay relevant over the decades, “Whatever profession you are in or whatever condition you are in, give your very best to your work. I know my films and songs stay forever so I must leave an imprint and so should everyone,” says the artiste, who has kept consistent with his riyaz.

Full of anecdotes, he shares this one, “I was shooting through the day for the film, Platform, when I was told that I also have to record a song in the evening to be filmed on Ajay Devgn. I put to use generators’ sound on the set to tune in for Duniya Di Tha Tha Tha soon after the action scene.” After Chandigarh, Jashan and Arun carry on with their promotions in Punjab.
