Diwali is still over a fortnight away, yet the shopkeepers in almost all areas such as HUDA, Railway Road and Model Town in Narwana has erected huge tents in front of their shops, thus leading to shortage of space for customers. With the election campaigning at peak now, roads in main bazaars remain chock-a-block. The administration should act strictly with encroachers so that people can heave a sigh of relief.   Ramesh Gupta, Narwana

Parties mum on caste reservation

CASTE reservation is an issue for the general category youth in the upcoming Assembly elections. But sadly, all political parties are silent on the issue, which has spoiled the social fabric of the society. Being an economist, I believe there is no logic for caste reservation now. To ensure efficiency and productivity, we have to promote merit with healthy competition conducive for work culture. To end inequalities, we need reservation based on well-defined criteria for the economically weaker section and

say no to caste reservation. Prof MM Goel, kurukshetra

Every vote counts

THe Assembly polls are round-the corner and as per the Constitution, it’s the duty of every voter to fulfil his responsibility by exercising his right to franchise. I appeal to all, especially the youth, to vote thoughtfully and choose a leader who can help in the overall development of the state. Also, the parties and their candidates should also not make false promises to the public, but should work for their welfare. By doing this, everyone will benefit and the state will progress. Shakti Singh, karnal

Road or death trap?

Roads are considered as the lifeline for commuters. However, the Pehowa-Kurukshetra road has now turned into a death trap, with several persons losing their lives in accidents on this stretch. The road is uneven and has even got 1-2-ft-deep potholes. The ineptitude and negligence on the part of PWD officials is to be blamed. There’s an urgent need of vigilance probe and the guilty must be punished. G Sagar, kurukshetra
