Walkathon for road safety

Students of Jammu Sanskriti School, Kathua, participated in a walkathon conducted by the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) on Tuesday.

The walkathon, which was inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner (DC), started from Government Degree College (GDC) and passed through Martyrs Chowk and culminated at Mukharjee Chowk. The participants were students of various schools, colleges, NCC cadets and volunteers from NGOs etc. They carried placards and banners spreading awareness on road safety measures, safe driving etc.

Pertinently, the state government is observing the 30th Road Safety Week-2019 from February 4 to 10 on the theme “Sadak suraksha – jeevan raksha”.

The objective of this week-long programme is to sensitise citizen/state holders of the district about the motor vehicle rules and regulations as well as road safety measures. Earlier, the event was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner (DC), Kathua.
