Office bearers and activists of various organisations, led by sarpanches and lambardars of their respective localities, have vowed to associate with the movement launched by the administration to identify beneficiaries of various schemes launched by the government under Mahatma Gandhi Sarbat Vikas Yojna.
The oath was taken in response to appeal made by Ahmedgarh and Malerkotla SDM Vikramjeet Singh Panthey during a meeting of officials concerned with implementation of the scheme.
Appreciating gesture shown by the enthusiasts, SDM Vikramjeet Singh Panthey said sarpanches and lambardars of various villages had come forward to extend cooperation in identification of beneficiaries of various social welfare schemes who could not avail the facilities earlier. “Responding to a call made by district administration led by Sangrur Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori, several heads of the region have assured that they would prepare a list of genuine beneficiaries of various schemes and handover these lists to panchayat secretaries of their regions as soon as possible,” said Panthey adding the identified beneficiaries would be asked to apply for facilities entitled for them without further delay.
Debt-ridden farmers, families who have lost their sole breadwinner, families headed by a single women, individuals suffering from some serious disease, martyrs of wars , dropout children , homeless families, physically or mentally challenged persons , drug addicts , hapless elderly persons, accident or natural calamity victims, unemployed adults, sufferers of malnutrition , orphans, beggars, slum dwellers, third gender individuals and acid attack victims were cited to be eligible to avail of benefits.
Investigations further revealed that 14 teams of government officials had been constituted to undertake technical survey with the help of sarpanches and lambardars of their respective areas. The officials who would work under supervision of a BDPO, have been advised to complete the survey within a stipulated period. Reiterating zero tolerance agenda Panthey said all constituents of surveying teams had been asked to ensure that no beneficiary is left unidentified.
