Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday hosted Ugadi, the New Year Day celebrated in Andhra and Karnataka and by other names in different parts of the country including Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, Manipur and by the Sindhi community.
Naidu said the country takes pride in its heritage and diverse culture and by celebrating such occasions, roots with tradition get strengthened.
Former Vice President M Hamid Ansari, former PM Manmohan Singh, Delhi Lt. Governor Anil Baijal and Union Minister Vijay Goel were among other dignitaries who attended the function.
