Valley players win laurels in martial arts

SRINAGAR: The players of the state, representing Team India in the “1st International Beach Combat Games” held in Goa from January 17 to 20, won four gold medals.

The players of the state, representing Team India in the “1st International Beach Combat Games” held in Goa from January 17 to 20, won four gold medals.

All players participated in the mixed martial arts (MMA), said Sahil Manzoor, who won the gold medal in the 50 kg category. Others who won gold medals included Arsalan Rashid (90 kg category), Ubair Mushtaq (55 kg category) and Sameer Farooq (60 kg category).

“It is a proud moment for us. We worked very hard and are delighted that our hard work has finally paid off. We will continue to work hard and bring more laurels to the state and the country,” said Sahil. — TNS
