A matter related to alleged use of fake certificates for hiring assistant professors at Punjabi University, Patiala, has reached the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
The High Court has sought information on reports prepared by internal and external committees of Punjabi University related to hiring of assistant professors with alleged fake SC/BC certificates and whether they were presented in the Punjabi University’s Syndicate meetings.
Complainant Havinder Sandhu reached the High Court and sought action on the basis of an investigation report. Sandhu said the university has repeatedly formed committees to probe the matter along with misappropriation of funds but failed to take any action.
He said, “The suspect has been found guilty in investigation reports. The university is delaying action and keeps on forming one committee after another.”
He said, “The court of Justice Tejinder Singh Dhindsa has demanded information whether the university has taken any action on the reports. We have been directed to present reply on the next date of hearing on October 17.”
Sandhu said he would take all the matters of alleged misappropriation of funds in Punjabi University to the court if the varsity fails to act sternly.
