Amritsar, January 17

A 10-year-old child from Ghaziabad district in Uttar Pradesh was reunited with her mother after a year with the efforts of Childline, an organisation that helps children in distress. The child, Paritosh Kumar, had gone missing while he was on the way from Ghaziabad to Patiala to meet his brother living with his separated father. Somehow, he reached Amritsar from where he took a wrong train to Ajmer.

Childline volunteer Gagan Mattu said, “In Ajmer, he was found by Childline volunteers, who contacted us around six months ago.”

As the child came to the custody of Child Welfare Committee, Amritsar, after months of counselling he stated that his mother lived in Hapur, Ghaziabad. “Our volunteers approached Childline Ghaziabad to verify his address who then contacted his mother,” he said.

His mother Manjit Kaur who came here to get him said that they had looked him every where possible and she was happy to get him back. She said Paritosh was missing for the last one year.
