Condemning lathicharge against teachers in Patiala on Sunday, members of the Adhiapak Sangharsh Committee, Punjab, staged a protest in all block headquarters here on Tuesday.

The protesting teachers burnt an effigy of the state government. A handful number of female teachers were also part of a rally held at Gandhi Municipal Park.

While addressing the protesting teachers, Nachhatar Singh, Prabhjot Singh Gohalwar and other union leaders condemned the lathicharge by the police on the protestors in Patiala.

The union leaders demanded regularisation of their services and withdrawal of cases registered against teachers during agitations.

They raised slogans against the state government while burning effigies of the Chief Minister, the Education Minister and the Education Secretary.

Besides, the teachers protested in Patti, Bhikhiwind, Chohla Sahib, Khadoor Sahib, Naushehra Pannuan, Gandiwind and Khemkaran.
