The Municipal Corporation of Amritsar has adopted a new technology for patchwork on roads. The rainy season has resulted in damage to road stretches. For the task of recarpeting the stretches, the MC has hired a UK-based company.
Mayor Karamjit Singh Rintu stated that the company had provided an upgraded technology for the task. “We have initiated a pilot project in various Assembly constituencies. The work has been completed at Rattan Singh Chowk on pilot basis,” said Rintu.
Earlier, the company had exhibited a trial near Trillium Mall on Circular Road. Then the MC floated a tender and hired the company for a short period.
“We were facing a major issue during the maintenance of roads. The patchwork with provided technology was not durable. After conducting patchwork, the stretches again get damaged within a few months. The UK-based company uses advanced technology to compress the material. It is fully mechanised. We found it to be more strong than ordinary patchwork,” added Mayor.
