ABOHAR: Two pilgrims were killed while two others injured after a truck reportedly hit them on the Sriganganagar-Bikaner highway on Saturday night.

Two pilgrims were killed while two others injured after a truck reportedly hit them on the Sriganganagar-Bikaner highway on Saturday night.

The mishap took place when they were on their way to Ramdevra, a village situated about 12-km north of Pokharan in Jaisalmer district, for an annual fair.

The police said the Hariyasar toll plaza staff informed them about the incident around 11 pm following which ASI Girwar Singh reached the site and SHO Ishwer Chand joined him later.

Net Ram (40) and Subhash Chander (20) from Bazidpur Kattianwali village died on the spot. Two other pilgrims Sita Ram (50) and Krishan Lal (40) were shifted to the Civil Hospital at Loonkaransar with the help of activists of NGO Tiger Brigade. They have been referred to Bikaner as their condition was critical.

Meanwhile, the families of the deceased arrived on Sunday and were handed over the bodies after the autopsy. A case has been registered against an unidentified truck driver.

Meanwhile, in separate mishaps on the highway, a cook in the Army, Shanker Singh Rathore (30) of Jaithari district in Madhya Pradesh, police constable Sukhwinder Singh (46) of Mirzewala village near Sriganganagar and Tarsem (20) of Nathawali village near Hanumangarh were killed.

Meanwhile, Sahil (20) of Dharam Nagari and Surinder Kumar (23) of Jhumianwali village were seriously injured as their car reportedly hit a roadside tree after colliding with a stray bull near Balluana village on Abohar-Malout Road on Saturday evening. Both were referred to Faridkot.
