Two held for raping two teenagers

KATHUA: The police on Tuesday arrested two persons for allegedly kidnapping and raping two teenagers in the remote Bani area of Kathua district.

The police on Tuesday arrested two persons for allegedly kidnapping and raping two teenagers in the remote Bani area of Kathua district. The accused were identified as Jamal Din and Kamran, both residents of Chandiyar village in Bani tehsil.

The victims, accompanied by their parents, lodged a complaint with the police on Tuesday, alleging that they were kidnapped by an unknown person who took them to the Basohli side.

“We were given some medicine that made us unconscious. We gained senses near Hatli Morh, Kathua. Later, Jamal Din and Kamran forcibly took us to a room and repeatedly raped us. They threatened us of dire consequences if we reported the matter to anyone,” according to a statement by the victims.

The police immediately swung into action and arrested the accused from the Kathua area. ASP, Kathua, Ramneesh Gupta said they were ascertaining the age of the victims. — OC
