Two held for hijacking tipper

JALANDHAR: The district police today arrested two persons and recovered a tipper, 10 days after five unidentified persons took away the vehicle at gunpoint from the victim on the Mattewala bridge in Nawanshahr.

The district police today arrested two persons and recovered a tipper, 10 days after five unidentified persons took away the vehicle at gunpoint from the victim on the Mattewala bridge in Nawanshahr.

The accused have been identified as Daljit Singh, alias Jeeta, and Darbara Singh, alias Buta, from Ludhiana.

The tipper was taken away from Gurjivan Singh of Gurdaspur when he was on the way to Kanpur Khuhi.

The police said the police team from Rahon conducted a special checking near Shahpur Patti from where the tipper was recovered.

Balraj Singh, Superintendent of Police (investigation) said: “Three other accused are absconding. They will be arrested soon.”

Following the victim’s complaint, the police had registered a case under Section 395 (dacoity) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
