The two-day Amritsar International Folk Festival began at Khalsa College for Women on Monday. A delegation of Poland shared stage, depicted world class multicultural mileage.
The mesmerising performance of Bydgoska artistes from Poland offered a rare and magical performance. The festival is being organised by the Khalsa College governing council in collaboration with Punjab Cultural Promotion Council (PCPC).
The artistes exhibited the message of peace and harmony during their gripping performances.
Wearing their traditional colorful dresses the artistes took to the stage with full enthusiasm and won the heart with foot-tapping dances and melodious singing.
The 17-member Polska delegation led by Hanna Bugeja and Imislawa gave folk presentations of their native country. Imislawa said, “This place has certain magic to it. We will be showcasing our dance forms.”
Gidda team of Khalsa College Senior Secondary School (Girls) Luddi and Khalsa College Senior Secondary School Boys’ Bhangra team added spark to the cultural bonanza highlighting dance, fun and frolics.
Chief guest KCGC joint secretary Gunbir Singh along with college Principal Dr Manpreet Kaur, joint secretaries KCGC Ajmer Singh Heir, SS Mannan and Rajbir Singh and Khalsa Colege Principal Dr Mehal Singh distributed the awards of appreciation to the Polska artistes as well as in-house performers.
Gunbir said, “Such inter-cultural festivals provide opportunity for students to interact and perform together for better understanding between diverse cultures.”
Dr Davinder Singh Chhina, PCPC head, said the festival was aimed to globalise the heritage of holy city by inviting folk delegations from various countries of the world. He said the council promoted multiculturalism and international cooperation through the exchange of artistes.
Other present included Principal Puneet Nagpal, DS Rataul, staff and students in large number. The members of the Polish delegation included Maciej Piotr, Sonia Maria, Agata Maria, Michal, karol, Malgorzata dorat, Elzbieta, Marcin Dariusz, Anna Antonina, Maja Walentyna, Jakub, kamil, krol Piotr, Aleksandra and Piotr Andrzej, besides two group leaders.
