A three-day conference on Secure Cyber Computing and Communications being organised by the department of computer science and engineering, Dr B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, commencd today.

The conference aims to bring together researchers from the academia and the industries from different countries to share their ideas, problems, and solutions in the areas of computing and communication.

Dr Geeta Sikka, Executive General Chair and convener, addressed the conference in the inaugural session and welcomed the delegates who were participating in the conference from all over the globe. Prof A L Sangal, General Chair and Secretary, outlined the aim, objectives and overview of the conference.

Prof Manoj Misra , Distinguished Professor of IIT Roorkee inaugurated the conference along with Prof LK Awasthi, Director, NIT, Jalandhar and patron and Principal General Chair, eminent academicians Prof MoinUddin, former Director, NIT Jalandhar, and Prof Mahesh Chandra Govil, Director NIT Sikkim. Prof Misra’s current research interest includes mobile computing, performance evaluation and distributed computing.

Dr Harsh Verma, General Chair and Secretary, concluded the opening ceremony with vote of thanks. Prof Dharma P Agrawal, OBR, distinguished professor at the University of Cincinnati, discussed a novel authenticated key establishment schemes (AKES) approach for secured communication in wireless sensor networks and delivered a talk on ‘Key-based Secured Communications in Randomly Deployed Wireless Sensor Networks’ as a keynote speaker.

Other key speakers of the event include Dr. Vijay Kumar, Curators’ Distinguished research professor of Computer Science at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Students from all over the world , researchers and professors submitted research papers through EDAS (Editor’s Assistant) and total of 228 papers have gone through a review process involving at least two reviewers.

As many as 128 papers have been registered for the conference and will be considered for publication. Four different sessions demonstrating different tracks of the conference were organised for paper presentations by the delegates. The first session was chaired by Prof Narottam Chand Kaushal, NIT Hamirpur and Prof Arun Khosla, NIT, Jalandhar. The second session was chaired by Prof Mayank Dave, NIT Kurukshetra and Prof Vivek Sehgal, JUIT Solan. The third session was chaired by Prof Sanjeev Sofat, PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh and Prof Manju Bala, Director, Khalsa College of Engineering and Technology, Amritsar. The final session was chaired by Prof Gurvinder Singh, GNDU, Amritsar and Dr Renu Dhir, NIT, Jalandhar.
