Panchkula, March 22

The Panchkula police have booked two persons, including a woman, for allegedly beating a Rohtak-based lawyer on the court complex.

The victim, Sakshi Kaul, in her complaint to the police said she had visited the Panchkula district courts to attend her brother’s case in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate.

The woman said she was shocked to see her husband Sourabh Narula and sister-in-law Ritu Vashisth, both residents of Delhi, trying to follow her in the court despite the fact that there was no case pending against them.

She alleged that when she reached near the canteen, the two beat her up and allegedly tried to hit her on the face causing bruises on her face. She claimed that other lawyers present in the court rescued her from the assault.

Kaul alleged that Sourabh not only beat her up but also threatened to eliminate her if she did not withdraw the case registered by her against him. The police have registered a case under Sections 323, 34 and 506 of the IPC. — TNS
