Lambi, July 31
Two days after SAD vice-president Tejinder Singh Middukhera stopped BJP’s Lambi block president Kulwant Singh from carrying out a membership drive of the saffron party in former CM Parkash Singh Badal’s home turf Lambi, Kulwant today said he would restart the enrolment work only after senior leaders of both parties would sit on a table to discuss the matter and find a permanent solution.
Speaking over the phone, Kulwant today said, “I am not working to make new members after the controversy. A former district president of the BJP today asked me to hold a meeting with the SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal, but I told him that the leadership of both parties should sit and find out a solution.”
Jaswinder Singh, a sarpanch from Khemakhera village and member of the SAD, on Sunday had stopped Kulwant Singh from carrying out the membership drive in his village.
An audio of the conversation between Middukhera and Kulwant had also gone viral on the social media, wherein Middukhera asked him to enroll members in areas other than Lambi and stop all activities there. “This is Badal Sahib’s area and you should not enter here. Don’t create a controversy…,” said Middukhera in the audio that went viral on social media.
Tejinder, however, had said he did not want to stop the BJP’s membership drive, but told Kulwant to stay away just because two parallel membership drives would create confusion.
