Solan, January 4

Sinking all differences, former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) president Sukhwinder Singh Sukku shared the stage in Kandaghat on Friday. They were here to address workers, whom they urged to work unitedly to ensure the party’s victory in the Lok Sabha elections.

A memorandum was also submitted to the Kandaghat SDM, highlighting the false promises and failures of the Jai Ram Thakur government.

Sukhu said the BJP government at the Centre had only discriminated against Shimla during the last four years. Solan district was bereft of a tomato-based industrial unit. Even the promised 50 per cent increase in the export duty on apple failed to be executed.

He said even the much-talked about grant of ST status to the Hattee community of Sirmaur had failed to come through, with the state not getting any industrial package.

Former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said if the BJP government closed any school or college, it would resort to an agitation. He said development works initited during their tenure had been ignored and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had failed to give anything to Himachal. The people would give a befitting reply to the BJP in the ensuing elections.

Solan MLA DR Shandil said development works had come to a standstill in the state in the last one year and nothing had been done for Kandaghat.
