The Department of Guru Nanak Sikh Studies, Panjab University, celebrated the 147th birth anniversary of Bhai Vir Singh, also called the father of modern Punjabi Literature, on Thursday. Research scholars and students of the department dwelled on the literary contribution of Bhai Vir Singh in Punjabi literature.

The programme began with recitation of a few poems of Bhai Vir Singh. The students discussed his novels, including ‘Sundari’, ‘Vijay Singh’, ‘Satwant Kaur’ and ‘Bhai Naudh Singh’. — TNS
