Rail and air travellers had to bear the vagaries of bad weather, as 12 trains were cancelled for the day and many more were running late by two to nine hours.
Those travelling by air between Delhi and Ludhiana were also harassed as the lone Air India flight was delayed by around three hours. According to railway officials, 12241/42 Chandigarh-Amritsar-Chandigarh Intercity Express, 15209/10 Saharsa-Amritsar-Saharsa Jansewa Express, 15707/08 Katihar-Amritsar-Katihar Amrapali Express, 12471 Bandra Terminus-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Swaraj Express, 12925 Bandra Terminus-Amritsar Pashchim Express, 14674 Amritsar-Jaynanagar Shaheed Express, 19614 Amritsar-Ajmer Express, 19804 Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-Kota Weekly Express and 22424 Amritsar-Gorakhpur Jansadhdran Express trains were cancelled for the day.
The lone Air India flight 9337/9338 between Delhi and Ludhiana was delayed by nearly three hours. The Delhi-Ludhiana flight took off with 43 passengers on board from Delhi at 9.45 am (2.45 hours behind schedule) and landed here at 10.55 am (scheduled time 8.15 am). The return flight departed at 11.20 am (scheduled time 8.45 am) with 49 passengers.
As many as seven trains – 01708 Attari-Jabalpur Special Express (5.15 hours), 12238 Jammu Tawi-Varanasi Begumpura Express (1.45 hours), 12491 Barauni-Jammu Tawi Maur Dhwaj Express (1.50 hours), 12903 Mumbai Central-Amritsar Golden Temple Mail (2.45 hours), 18237 Bilaspur-Amritsar Chhattisgarh Express (3.40 hours), 22432 Udhampur-Allahabad Superfast Express and 22552 Jalandhar City-Darbhanga Antyodaya Express (1.30 hours) – were rescheduled for late departure.
