Travel agent booked for fraud

Ludhiana, February 17

The police division 3 booked a travel agent for allegedly duping a resident of Rs 1 lakh on the pretext of sending him abroad.

The accused has been identified as Rana Rupinder alias Sherry, a resident of the Benjamin Road area. Complainant Sanjeev of New Tagore Nagar alleged that the accused had taken cash from him to send his son Tushar abroad, but the latter failed to arrange visa.

Now, he also refused to return the money, he added. The police have registered a case under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 13(1) of the Punjab Human Smuggling Act. The accused are yet to be arrested. — TNS
