The families of the victims of tragic train accident at Jaura Fatak, which left 61 people killed, staged a protest near the mishap site on Sunday. They are feeling befooled as they have not received any compensation from the Central Government. Besides, they say that no action has been taken against the “people responsible for the accident”.

The victim families have received compensation of Rs 5 lakh each. They complained that the compensation of Rs 2 lakh was yet to be credited to them.

The victim families complained that even two months after the accident, the government had failed to pinpoint blame on any of the people responsible for the accident.

Vijay Kumar, who lost his son, stated that he wanted the people responsible for the mishap be punished. Another resident, Avinash Kaur, who lost her husband, said she was facing it difficult to survive without him. “The only solace I expect is appropriate punishment to the guilty. The future of my children must be secured,” she said.

The residents also questioned the sincerity of the government stating that even as the inquiry into the accident was complete and report had already been submitted to the government, no action was taken against anyone.

“The inquiry must have held someone responsible. But we see that no body has been punished,” said another resident, Sandeep Kaur.
