The court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Gurmeet Singh Tiwana sentenced Sunil Kumar Bansal, who is the owner of Bhavishya Nirman Company, to three-month imprisonment for defaulting on payment of income tax for around two years.
According to sources in the Income Tax Department, Bansal is a resident of Guru Gobind Singh Nagar in Bathinda, who has been running a construction firm for a long time.
Sources added that Kumar had not paid income tax for the financial year 2009-2010. After the I-T Department found out that he had been defaulting on payment of income tax, they recovered an amount of Rs 3.50 lakh (outstanding income tax) after 22 months. — TNS
