Top Maoist leader from Telangana surrenders

HYDERABAD: Telangana Police has announced the surrender of top Communist Party of India (Maoist) leader Sudhakar alias Kiran, hailing from Nirmal in states Adilabad district, before the Ranchi police on Monday. His wife Madhavi also surrendered long with him, sources said.

Telangana Police has announced the surrender of top Communist Party of India (Maoist) leader Sudhakar alias Kiran, hailing from Nirmal in states Adilabad district, before the Ranchi police on Monday. His wife Madhavi also surrendered long with him, sources said.

The Maoist leader carried a reward Rs 25 lakh and was considered to one of the brains behind the movement. Sudhakar has been a Maoist Central Committee Members since 2013, and has guided and directed Maoist activities in Jharkhand, where police say he camped with over 50 armed squad members at any given time.

His wife Madhavi alias Neelima, also a top ranking Maoist, helped her husband plan and execute operations, sources said, adding that the Ranchi police had earlier probed the properties allegedly amassed by Sudhakar. Recently Ranchi Police visited Telangana to enquire about Sudhakar’s properties.
