New Delhi, September 5
The Supreme Court on Thursday permitted former J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti’s daughter Iltija to meet her in private in Kashmir, but said she would have to take requisite permission from the state administration for moving around in Srinagar.
The PDP chief has been under detention in a hut at Chashmeshahi near the Raj Bhavan in Srinagar following the revocation of the state’s special status on August 5.
A Bench led by CJI Ranjan Gogoi allowed Iltija to meet her mother after her counsel said she had no problem in going from Chennai to her Srinagar home, but had not been able to move freely in the city.
While advocate Nithya Ramakrishnan was making a submission that the petition was filed on behalf of Iltija seeking access to her mother as she has not met her for long time, Attorney General KK Venugopal and Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said Mehbooba’s mother Gulshan Ara and sister Rubaiyya Sayeed visited her on August 29 and September 3.
In her petition, Iltija said she was concerned about her mother's health. — TNS
