Tamil Nadu batted with conviction in their second innings to salvage a draw against Punjab on the final day of their Ranji Trophy Elite Group B match here today.

Starting the day at 166/3, still 98 runs short of making Punjab bat again, Tamil Nadu were shored up by determined innings from captain Baba Indrajith (93), India player Dinesh Karthik (74) and Vijay Shankar (51 not out). Punjab could pick up only three wickets today as Tamil Nadu ended up with 383/6, with the match called off with 15 overs to be played as no result seemed possible.

Punjab picked up three points from the match on the basis of their first innings lead. Punjab now have 12 points.

Amtar (HP): Hosts Himachal Pradesh recorded an innings and three run win over Andhra Pradesh, who were bowled out for 284 in their second innings. Himachal had dismissed Andhra for 173 before putting up 460 on the board. — TNS
