Three more gangsters involved in Nehru Garden shootout nabbed

JALANDHAR: The Commissioner of Police today arrested three other persons, with a notorious crime record, involved in the murder of a youth during the Nehru Garden shootout incident.

The Commissioner of Police today arrested three other persons, with a notorious crime record, involved in the murder of a youth during the Nehru Garden shootout incident. The suspects have been identified as Sukhwinder Pal Singh, alias Goldy, Vikas Kalyan and Abhinandan Sharma, alias Nandu.

The Commissioner of Police, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, said during the investigation of the case, it had came to light that the prime suspect in the case, Gopi Bajwa, was supplied weapon for the crime by Sukhwinder Pal Singh, alias Goldy, who was a notorious criminal of the city and was wanted by the police in several cases.

He said in one case, the suspect had been declared a proclaimed offender too. Bhullar said after the shootout, they got inputs that these criminals had managed to sneak out of the city towards Delhi.

The Commissioner of Police said consequently, various police teams were constituted for nabbing the culprits.

He said two suspects, Sukhwinder and Vikas, were arrested by a police party from Madan Mohan Malviya Road, Delhi, whereas their third accomplice Abhinandan had been arrested from Wadala Chowk here.

Bhullar said all three were having a crime record and had cases pending against them such as attempt to murder, planning for robbery and under the NDPS and Arms Act.

The Commissioner of Police said Goldy was also a prime suspect in the assault on Shashi Sharma, which took place a few weeks ago. The police had recovered a 7.65 mm pistol, seven cartridges and a magazine from Goldy.

He added that further investigations in the case were going on and the remaining culprits would also be nabbed soon.

Two of them arrested in Delhi
