Three land in police net for lifting vehicles in city

BATHINDA: The Civil Lines police on Saturday arrested three persons for allegedly stealing vehicles in the city.

The Civil Lines police on Saturday arrested three persons for allegedly stealing vehicles in the city. The police also recovered three motorcycles, an Activa and a jeep from them.

Addressing a press conference, Harbans Singh, SHO, Civil Lines police station, said, “We had received a tip-off about one of the suspects, who is involved in theft incidents, was roaming near Children Park. He was planning to steal a motorcycle. Acting on the tip-off, the police arrested him.”

The SHO said, “During an interrogation, he admitted his involvement in theft incidents. Three motorcycles and an Activa were recovered from his house. The accused was identified as Kulwinder Singh, a resident of Behman Diwana village.”

Talking about other theft incidents, the SHO said on January 28, a Bolero jeep was stolen from outside a private hospital on the Bhatti road.

He said the police received a tip-off that a Ferozepur-based gang of thieves was active in the city, which used to return to Ferozepur after committing crime in the city.

The SHO told mediapersons that the police arrested Yadwinder Singh and Paramjit Singh from Ferozepur and recovered the stolen Bolero jeep from their possession.

According to cops, the king pin of the gang is Balwant Singh, who is at large. The police said efforts were on to arrest him.
