Kaithal, April 7
The police have foiled an attempt to falsely implicate two persons, including a woman, in two cases of drug peddling.
They have also arrested three actual culprits in the two cases. They were sent in judicial custody by a court on Sunday.
SP Waseem Akram said a man, identified as Sandeep and posing as a policeman, informed ASI Balraj of the Anti-Drug Cell, Kaithal, on April 5 that he could help in arresting a drug seller. On April 6, the police reached the premises in the Mayapuri area as told by the informer but despite searches, they could not find any drug. On intensive interrogation, the man confessed that he and his woman relative wanted to take revenge from her neighbour and implicate him in a drug-seizure case. The man and his woman relative were arrested by the police.
In another case, the police raided the house of a woman in Kangthli village and seized 553 gm of opium packed in 42 plastic boxes. Later, the police suspected it to be a case of false implication. During investigation, the police held Malkiat Singh of Sair village and recovered 26 gm of opium packed in two similar plastic boxes. He confessed that he wanted to implicate the woman, the police said.
