Three get 3-year jail for attack on cops

CHANDIGARH: Three persons, including Nishant Sharma who claims to be the national president of Shiv Sena Hind, were on Friday sentenced to three years jail for obstructing police officials from discharging their duty and assaulting them in 2011, when the police had arrived at the District Court, Sector 17, to produce terrorists Jagtar Singh Hawara and Paramjit Singh Bheora in the Burail jailbreak case.

Three persons, including Nishant Sharma who claims to be the national president of Shiv Sena Hind, were on Friday sentenced to three years jail for obstructing police officials from discharging their duty and assaulting them in 2011, when the police had arrived at the District Court, Sector 17, to produce terrorists Jagtar Singh Hawara and Paramjit Singh Bheora in the Burail jailbreak case.

Nishant Sharma, Ashutosh Gautam and Ramesh Kumar Dutt have been convicted under various sections of the IPC. Manish Sood, another accused, had died during the course of the trial. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 each on all convicts. — TNS
