Three drug peddlers arrested with 50-gm heroin

Sleuths of the Special Task Force (STF) in Mohali arrested three drug peddlers with 50 grams of heroin from the Industrial Area in Phase 8B here.

The accused have been identified as Jagjit Singh, alias Jaggi, Avtar Singh, alias Mana, both residents of Popna village, Kharar, and Amarjit Singh, alias Rippy, from Chamkaur Sahib, Ropar.

Giving information, Rajinder Singh Sohal, Superintendent of Police, STF, said the trio was coming from Bariali village side to Mohali on a motorcycle to supply drugs to their customers when they were nabbed following a tip-off.

During interrogation, the accused confessed that they were working as private drivers.

“Jaggi and Avtar confessed that they started taking drugs around two weeks ago. Rippy has been consuming drugs for the past around eight months. Now they started supplying drugs,” said SP Sohal.

A case under Sections 21, 29, 61, 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused at the STF police station at Phase 4, here.

The Superintendent of Police said further investigations to ascertain their sources of drugs and their clients were on.
