Third accused in robbery case held

The CIA staff today arrested a person and recovered Rs 13.5 lakh from him in connection with a robbery incident that took place earlier this month.

The accused Dhian Singh (26) of Canal Colony of Kapurthala Road has been arrested from Ghah Mandi area.

He is the third accused arrested in the case in which Rs 48 lakh had been robbed from an NRI’s relative Sonu. An amount of Rs 17 lakh had already been recovered from Amit Kumar during his arrest earlier and an amount of Rs 3 lakh more had been seized from his possession during his police remand on Thursday.

The accused Dhian Singh was working in Connect office at Paragpur and later as a driver. He had met Amit Kumar two years ago at Sports College.

In his confession, Amit Kumar had said that he was working at Duke showroom at Jyoti Chowk as salesman. There he kept watch on all potential customers in an adjoining money exchange company. He also kept noting down their vehicle numbers and other possible details and since then he was keeping a watch on Sonu.
