A fourth generation musician, Meghdeep Bose, is riding the Bharat wave these days. Slow Motion and Aithey Aa are the two songs that he produced music for that are topping the charts. Lately, his songs, Bol Do Na Zara and Uff Ye Noor, won him the Best Music Producer award for two consecutive years from Indian Recordings Art Academy Committee for Music.

For the uninitiated, music production is as significant as composing and singing. While a singer gives the words, composer the ‘dhun’, music production artiste dresses up a composition. It’s one field that Meghdeep has enjoyed and holds the credit for being part of hit films like Tiger Zinda Hai, Airlift, Azhar, Hate Story, Bharat, SOTY 2 and Narendra Modi.

While the singers and composers get ample name and fame, music production is one field not that well known, and does it bother him?

“Not at all. I came to Mumbai to do something meaningful in the music industry. I am glad I am a part of it,” he shares. At the same time, he insists that it’s time music production got its share of attention.

“While the fact remains that music producers don’t get too much exposure but they are the real creator of music, without them music would be incomplete. They need to get out of the anonymity.”

Meghdeep is also into singing jingles. He made his Hollywood debut with The Black Prince with the track, Duaon Se Roshan.

AR Rahman remains a musician close to his heart. “Not many know but Rahman also does music production for his songs,” he says. And it’s the admiration for the maestro that makes Meghdeep put his work in PM Narendra Modi above others. “No political affiliations but this film gave me a chance to make music, the kind Rahaman did in the 90s. While nobody can touch Rahman’s genius, just dabbling in similar space made it worthwhile for me.”

While much has come his way in a short span of time, this music producer, arranger is far from done. “I want to take Indian music to the international platform.” Running—Meghdeep Bose Mix topping the charts is a step in the right direction.

When not making music, Meghdeep loves to cook for his friends or go for long drives. However, rooted to music he is, forever!
