Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today said stern action would be taken against anyone creating law and order problem in the border areas, where people from other states were involved in crime.
The Chief Minister made a statement in the Vidhan Sabha on the clashes that took place in Parwanoo between rival factions of truck unions. He said during police investigation, it had been noticed that a majority of those involved in the clashes were from outside the state.
“Himachal is a peaceful state and is known as Devbhoomi. We will not allow anyone to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere,” he said. He said action would be taken against the guilty.
Thakur said a case had been registered by the police on a complaint filed by Pawan Kumar, who is an employee of the Hardeep Bawa group. The complaint had said he was stopped by three persons and later one of them fired in the ground.
The CM said later Hardeep, along with his supporters, blocked traffic on Kasauli Chowk in Parwanoo. On being asked to lift the blockade, Hardeep said he would do so only after the culprits were arrested. Later, about 50 supporters of the rival faction, equipped with swords, sticks and stones attacked them.
“Superintendent of Police, Solan, visited the spot and brought the situation under control. Three persons Pramod Sharma, Ghan Shyam and Sher Singh have been arrested and adequate police deployment has been made to keep the law and order situation under control,” he said.
