Shimla, September 17
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today launched a cleanliness campaign from Deen Dayal Upadhaya Hospital, Shimla, to mark the 69th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and distributed sweets among patients.
Thakur said: “This year, Modi’s birth week is being celebrated as ‘Seva Saptaah’ to serve the poor, downtrodden and the needy.”
Wishing Modi a happy and prosperous birthday, Thakur said: “It is the duty of every citizen to participate in the cleanliness drive to ensure success of the Swachh Bharat campaign.” He said Modi had provided the much-needed strong and farsighted leadership to the nation by taking bold and historic decisions for the benefit of people. “Modi has special love and affection for the people of the state as he knows even the remotest corner and requirements of HP,” he said.
Later, the CM inaugurated a blood donation camp organised by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Shimla Mandal. He also launched the free “langar” service on the occasion in the DDU Hospital to be run by the NOVAL Welfare and Charitable Society.
Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, HIMFED Vice Chairman Ganesh Dutt, Mayor Kusum Sadret, Deputy Mayor Rakesh Sharma and Chief Medical Officer Dr Jitender Chauhan were also present on the occasion.
