Teenager ‘raped’ in Khara, four booked

TARN TARAN: Four persons, including three members of a family of Khara village, 25 km from here, have been booked by the Sarhali police for allegedly abducting and raping a teenage girl of the same village.

Four persons, including three members of a family of Khara village, 25 km from here, have been booked by the Sarhali police for allegedly abducting and raping a teenage girl of the same village. The incident occurred five days ago. The accused have been identified as Dilpreet Singh, his father Satnam Singh and mother Charanjit Kaur. Their accomplice is yet to be identified.

ASI Karamjit Kaur, investigating officer (IO), said the accused had been booked under Sections 363, 366-A, 376, 120-B of the IPC, and 3, 4 of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offence Act (POCSO) 2012.

The girl alleged that the accused came to her house at night and asked for her father, who was not at home. She alleged that he lured her away with a promise of marriage. Later, he took her to Amritsar where she was reportedly raped. She maintained that Dilpreet’s father and mother were also present.

Two days after that, the victim, somehow, managed to run away and reached her house.

ASI Karamjit Kaur said the victim was medically examined, confirming the rape. The accused are absconding, she added.
