Teen flees kidnappers, two arrested from Jind

KURUKSHETRA: The police on Monday claimed to have arrested two persons for kidnapping a teenager and demanding Rs 30 lakh as ransom.

The police on Monday claimed to have arrested two persons for kidnapping a teenager and demanding Rs 30 lakh as ransom.

Sixteen-year-old Akshay of Sant Nagar locality in Jind was reportedly kidnapped by car-borne persons on Saturday night.

The abductors had then contacted Akshay’s mother, working as peon. They reportedly demanded Rs 30 lakh as ransom.

Akshay managed to flee unharmed when the accused were consuming liquor.

After the police got a tip-off, teams raided various places to nab the culprits.

DSP Pawan Sharma on Monday said Anil and Ajay were arrested and their accomplices identified as Karan and Pradeep.

He said the accused had admitted to having got information about Akshay’s grandfather retiring recently. He said no previous criminal record of the accused had been found so far.
